How you play

Each on their phone, 2 to 10 players. A game is a run of rounds; every round, a different mini-game. You score points, you sabotage each other between rounds, and you finish by betting it all on one last question. The TV is just a recap screen: handy in a living room, never required.

The mini-games

Lightning quiz

One question, four answers. Right answer scores, and the faster you are, the more you earn.

🤥
True or False

One statement. True or false? Decide fast — doubt costs points.

🎯
Wild guess!

Nobody knows the exact answer. Type a number (negatives allowed): closest wins the pot.

Before / After

Two events. Did the first happen BEFORE or AFTER the second?

💬
Who said it?

A famous line. Who actually said it? Four names, one culprit.

✍️
Missing word

A cult line with a hole. Four words, only one fits. Faster is better.

🔢
What next?

A sequence of numbers, letters or symbols. What comes next?

🕵️
Deduction

Two or three clues. Only one conclusion holds. No prep school required.

🧭
The heading

You start facing a compass point. We spin you. Which way are you looking at the end?

🚦
Green light

Red: do not move. Orange: still do not move. GREEN: tap as fast as you can!

🐑
Follow the crowd

No right answer: guess what the others will pick. Sometimes you want the flock, sometimes the black sheep.

👆
Frenzy

Six seconds. One button. Mash it like your life depends on it. Fastest thumb wins.

🔍
Odd one out

Twenty identical emojis… except one. Tap the intruder. One try, so look twice.

🐭
Catch the mouse

Mice pop up at the same time for everyone. Tap them before the others! Five mice, five duels.

⏱️
Spot on

A timer starts, then hides. Stop it exactly on the target. Precision wins, not speed.

🧠
Mental snapshot

Six objects flash for four seconds. Then we ask which one was NOT there (or which one was). Goldfish memory forbidden.

🧮
Quick maths

One sum, four answers, zero calculator. Fast and right. Fast and wrong scores nothing.

🔢
In order

Nine tiles, shuffled. Tap 1, then 2, then 3… up to 9, as fast as you can. Each miss costs half a second.

🎨
Tricky colour

A colour word… written in another colour. Sometimes we want the ink, sometimes the word. Your brain will hate this.

🐹
Whack-a-mole

Six holes, the same for everyone. Tap the mole — the crown pays more, the bomb costs you.

🌠
Shooting stars

A rain of stars, the same everywhere. Tap them: first come, first served. Not the UFO. Never the UFO.

🐝
The swarm

Four waves, the same grid for everyone. At the top: the emoji to grab (there are several). Fastest wins the duel. Another emoji? You lose points.

Speed pays on quizzes. Three correct answers in a row: 🔥 bonus. Ranked challenges (Wild guess!, Green light, Frenzy, Odd one out, Spot on, In order) pay 100 / 70 / 50 / 40… “Shared screen” games run at the same time on everyone’s phone (and on the TV if there is one).

Double round: now and then, with no warning, a round counts ×2.

😈 Dirty tricks

Between two rounds, spend a token 🎟️ to play a trick, in secret. Everything is announced at the start of the next round.

🌫️
Fog

Your target cannot answer for the first 3 seconds.

🌀
Sabotage

Your target’s screen gets… unpleasant. Buttons start moving on their own.

🧤
Pickpocket

You steal 40% of what your target earns next round.

🧨
Bomb

Boom: your target loses 30 points, no matter what.

🐌
Snail

Your target’s gains are halved next round.

Hourglass

Your target only gets half the time to answer.

🛡️
Shield

Cancels every dirty trick aimed at you this round.

🪞
Mirror

Dirty tricks thrown at you… bounce back into their author’s face.

🚀
Turbo

Your gains next round are multiplied by 1.5. Simple, effective.

🎲
All or nothing

Top half of the round? Gain ×2. Otherwise… zero.

You start with 2 tokens. After that, only one way to earn more: lose the round. The loser of each round (except the last) gets a consolation token. Maximum 3.

🎙️ And around it

  • During results, send a reaction (😂 😱 🔥 👏 🤡 💀): it shows up on everyone’s screen.
  • A commentator (not kind) calls every round.
  • On the podium: honorary titles 🧠 The brain, 🏅 Round king, 😈 The sneak, 🔥 On fire, 👻 The ghost. Plus a trash talk recap that scrolls for each player, based on the history.
  • Public tables open themselves (duo, trio, quartet, crew). It starts as soon as there are enough people. Your account scores feed the public leaderboard.
  • Want a rematch? In a private room, anyone can ask from the podium. The others see “So-and-so wants a rematch”: only the people who tap again come back to the lobby. A refusal is flagged to the host.
  • Your phone remembers your nickname and avatar from one game to the next.
  • With an account, you collect badges 🎖️ at the end of each game: 24 to unlock, from 🍼 Baptism of fire to 👑 Dynasty… via 🫏 Dunce cap. They show on your profile.

💰 The Jackpot

Last round: before the question, everyone bets 0, 25, 50 or 100% of their score. Right answer, the bet is won; wrong, it’s gone. The ranking can flip until the last second.

Frequent questions

How do you play ZapClash?
Create a room (or join a 5-letter code, or a public table). Everyone plays on their phone. A game is a run of mini-games, then one last bet — the Jackpot.
Do you need a television?
No. The TV is an optional recap screen. The whole game lives on the phones, even without a big screen.
How many players?
2 to 10. In private, the host starts when they want. Public tables start on their own as soon as there are enough people.
Is ZapClash free?
Yes. It plays in the browser, no app to install. An account just keeps your scores and puts you on the leaderboard.
What is a dirty trick?
Between rounds, you spend a token to boost your points or mess a friend up: fog, pickpocket, bomb, mirror… Everything is announced at the start of the next round.

Tips

  • Pickpocket on the leader just before a reflex game: cruel. And effective.
  • A Shield when you’re in the lead and everyone is giving you side-eye.
  • All or nothing when you’re sure of yourself… or when you’ve got nothing left to lose.
  • Mirror when you feel the whole room is about to pile on: the Bomb comes back to the sender.
  • Hourglass + Fog on the same target: they’ve got… not much left.
  • At the Jackpot, last place has nothing to lose: they go all in. First place sweats.
